Apple is not the greatest in supporting what it considers to be old hardware and software. I think any upgrades you may have wished for iMovie8 would have required payment, but Apple pulls anything except the newest versions from its site. Now that they have gone to downloads only it puts users of older software in a real mess because it isn't like when you used to be able to go out and find old installer discs.
