Tutorial - How to load the seed in Alpha Make sure you're using Minecraft Java Edition, with 'Historical versions' enabled in the launcher, and choose version a1.0.16. This version doesn't support entering seeds, so you'll either have to use save file editing, or just use our already prepared world file. We have been playing since alpha, and miss the old days and want to bring them back. Playing with friends, one type of tree, the feeling of not caring what your base looked like- as long as it is big and cool. Our server will be hosting minecraft Alpha 1.2.6, and you will need the jar to join the server. AlwaysAlpha is a Minecraft Alpha 1.2.6 server. You may say, why Alpha? It's old, buggy, and a real pain to keep secure! It seems as if everyone has forgotten it.
The initial release of the launcher was when Minecraft Alpha was first released. This launcher could choose not only the current version but also Infdev.
The launcher was updated in February 2011 (around the release of Beta 1.3), with a smarter update system and automatic login. It was updated again around 1.3.2 with a demo mode for non-premium users, and the current launcher was released around 1.6.1.
